Sale stands for my profession. I am a person that sales. Neither of the books will teach you the “musts” of a successful sales manager — this is hazard, which makes you feel happy.
I guess there’s no other place, but the publishing house, where you can wear small shorts, dragged sport trousers, or for example to nail within the working hours. We’ve got a great team regardless of the fact that we operate in almost 100% female team.
I am an early riser. The working day in “Conde Nast” starts in the period between 9.30 and 10.00 which obliges all, including editors and managing staff to be in the office at this time. You know, when I see beautiful people in the hall in the morning, talking, walking, holding magazines and smiling, I feel really high and I even don’t need coffee to get the feeling. These are the moments I realize I am happy.
The rule like “No Prada — no Respect” does not function in our company. On the contrary, it’s cool to wear H&M in our company and that is what really is supposed to be cool. No doubt the work has altered my style, it’s unavoidable in our environment. I guess we more precisely know the value of the things.
In the evenings I study history in MSU, the specialization being Art history. It wasn’t just a random choice on my part. That is the thing I have always longed to get into. First I was lazy when young and afterwards this sphere brought few in the beginning of the 90th.
I visit the Tretjakovs Gallery at the weekends. I am glad when I have people to join me but I am also happy to happen to be alone with the paintings. I always take only 2 looks, I can’t take more.
The art makes you feel real, prevents you from being similar to infusorium It changes your worldview, you get involved into the history. The fact that I knew my country, to get better acquainted with the places in Moscow and in St. Petersburg makes me feel absolutely different. Every day I drive along my street and realize that I know more and more about it.
A wide spread opinion about historians, wearing worn-out pullovers as any beggars, eating from iron bowls is absolutely unfair. GQ’s editor-in-chief Nikolai Uskov for one has already run the PhD in history.
I am ready to spend all my money to travel or to buy a present to my dearest. It often happens that I keep myself from buying dome gift which may result into my being short of money.
I always lose gloves, glasses, scarves and umbrellas.
I am unique in a way: I can be so happy that I am ready to move mountains or I can be extremely upset.
The notion “best female friend” is something from the childhood. I don’t feel like getting stuck to one person. It’s only a man who must be the only one.
Here creative people work. It’s important that every employee of the publishing house whether he is an editor or an assistant’s assistant, will not forget that a glossy magazine makes itself a sound business process, him being merely an employed person. It’s like you live the office and your nimbus goes away.
My glossy responsibilities comprises everything based on an advertising pattern, from the cover to page spreads.

One of your subordinates will take your place one day and that’s cool! You always need to give people the opportunity to try themselves. A head that is not able to bring up his deputy within the period of several years turns out to be non productive.
In the Internet era we’ve got great many pictures all around, which means that high qualified magazines are the thing of the future! Useful information and high-qualified journalism will save the gloss!
