As a matter of fact, the idea of my profession is very simple: you’ve got to get your restaurant running.

I seek for grandness in everything, therefore I prefer clubs that match my taste in this. I like places where there’s glitter flying all over, the stroboscopes flashing, the crackers going off here and there, the transvestites and the dancers coming down on the ropes from the ceiling, that sort of thing. However, the audience in majority of such places consists of just two categories: those to be picked-up and the pick-upers. And that’s sad.

I’d say that I am an open, trustful, and naïve person. Everyone has always been telling me how wrong it is to be so much like a child. But I’ve realized it now that preserving this child inside yourself is the most important thing you can ever do.

Even if your life is marred with deceit and betrayal, it can still be a happy life.

If someone says: ”I love being alone, there are times when I just don’t need anyone,” I’d only believe them if they’re surrounded by friends. But if they don’t have friends or loved ones, this only means that it’s their loneliness speaking.

Well, what can I say? There are a few sides to everything…

Before, I was sure that if I call a friend at 4 in the morning, he’d rush to me come hell or high water. But as the years go by, I’m beginning to realize that there’s less and less people like that left around me (laughs). I guess I just have very soviet-like ideas of friendship: “Let’s do everything together! Let’s all go there! Let’s all do this!”

There are no negative people among those who surround me.

I believe that I know “the right way”. My parents have developed a tremendous sense of truth in me.

Every time I look at the clock, I always see the same numbers. Like 11:11, 22:22, and 08:08. Sheer numerology, god damn it! I can wake up in the middle of the night, look at the clock, and it will be 05:05. Weird, isn’t it?

One thing about my restaurant is proper food. If it’s meat — it’s meat, a big juicy piece of it. If it’s pasta, it’s pasta. Forget all that creepy fusion stuff and other puny exotics.

Only in Moscow people love new places that pop up everywhere like mushrooms, replacing each other. The moment a restaurant or a bar becomes popular, it closes down, or starts attracting dodgy companies that come there and ask for backgammon.

Love lives inside us… love for everything… Either it’s there, or there’s no love.

I’m glad that I see more and more highly cultural, well-educated individuals among those who belong to the wealthiest spheres of our society , but still, majority of “our elite” comes from rural areas.

Permissiveness is the name of the plague ravishing the children who were born in the end of the 20 century. Wait till they grow up and show everyone what they’re worth!

I wouldn’t deny myself a yacht. But I also wouldn’t betray, deceive, or steal, if that was what it took to have it.
