I can say that I am a professional traveler. However travelling has never been an end in itself for me.

Every Norman man is always about hunting treasures, winning bread and travelling. I guess it comes from a male’s genetic code.

Once one sick eye-browed man stated that economy must be economical. To my mind the phrase is absolutely silly. Did he mean that economy always has to be economical, right? In this case oil is always to be oily, ink — inky and tea — tealike?

I don’t like tourists. Tourism stands for never ending consumption. And I reckon that a man is meant to work not that much for the sake of him himself but also for the sake of other people, to bring the good you know. Our discoveries bring the truth while tourists are devastating another town.

Once a “famous” journalist Fedorovsky came to me and said that he would turn me to a hero. I told him to go to hell. I myself can not turn into a hero, why should I expect another man to do this? I think they call it PR nowadays. I guess this is closer to the truth but who needs you to turn him into a hero!

You treat green as something that you are to have and you are to strive for. Not bad. It’s just we were educated differently. Money is nails for me, that helps me to build my own ladder. To come some cases up I need more boards and more nails. Boards stand for my ideas while money is the material with which I fetch them.

I’ve been starving for many years and this is not due to the lack of money to buy the food. I just don’t feel like wasting my time on it.

We are all different in our focuses. What’s the difference between an arrow and a mop? These are both sticks, but the difference is that one of them is standing in the corner, and the other one — flying. The same with people. By the way, any mop can be transformed into an arrow and it will fly.

I am a historian, because I want to know what was there before I came. Only then I get the reason to live. My life attains some kind of a link with the past. There’s no future without the past. The new generation does not get the message yet but it will obviously realize the thing some day.

The fortune gets the seserving.

If I had never been afraid, I would have been eaten by a cod a long ago. Fear is an integral feeling of mine: I am afraid when I am sleeping, I am afraid when I am awake, as well as I am standing at the wheel or as I am in charge of the whole of the expedition.

It turned out that it’s very difficult to earn money in our sphere. It’s much easier to sell vodka and become rich but this is completely different.

I am a happy man who has lived quite a long period of time and has done what he really wanted. Well, I’ve been smoking since I was 14 and I still feel great. I adore smoking a pipe but I rarely do it. It may sound crazy but I can’t find tobacco in Moscow!

There’s a great saying: “The more languages you speak the more human you are!”

What can be more correct that the idea that manufacturing tools are to belong to the people. This is what I call fundamental and basic. Should you put it away you will break communism. As a matter of fact the idea of equality characterizes any political system. The whole of the mankind history consists of people’s attempts to gain the thing. But what should we do? Would that stand for equality if everybody is given the same salary? Obviously not. That’s why it’s only equal protection of the law which can be unambiguous. Law is one and indivisible for everyone though they try to doubt it.

I often ask myself why should I damning go, let’s say to Novaya Zemlya for the tenth time? I often can’t find the answer, but that does not prevent me from going there.

People think that they know everything because they have mobile phone, Internet and so on. In reality we do not know much and what is really awful — we wouldn’t like to. And I would. That is the difference. Chinese reckon that happiness lies in ignorance. Fricks can think so.
