«The selfless ones get the better pay»

Should I have been born in America, I would have become an FBI agent.

I used to be a very reticent child. It happened that way that I’ve always been surrounded by people who’d underestimate my abilities. Throughout my life, I’ve been doomed to keep proving myself to this world.

I can’t live without music.

I don’t like the word “star”. It sounds too pompous to me.

They often ask me, “Ira, so you’re now studying at GITIS (a major school of theatrical arts in Russia — TN). So what’re you going to do next?” I don’t think about what I’m going to do next. I just feel like I am in the right place. And as for what is going to happen next, we’re all in God’s hands.

There are a lot of things that Russian show business is lacking, the true artists find themselves in a situation where their hands are tied. As soon as you come up with something different, you’re stigmatized — it’s against the flow.

While I was still a kid, I’ve learnt from my mom this, probably, most fundamental rule of life: it’s not the quantity that matters, but the quality.

The selfless ones get the better pay.

I met my best friend during the entrance exams. I walked into the room, looked around and realized that everybody was cheating, but pretending that they weren’t. Then I called out, “Hey guys, who of you is cheating?” And there was only one girl who did actually respond to me. So I sat next to her. Ever since then we’ve been together.

I’ve never really had to contemplate what I was doing. I just did what I enjoyed and what seemed like fun. Sometimes it feels like I’m walking along a beaten track, the path that was meant to be mine.

To me, dancing, music, singing, and acting altogether make a single entity. I wouldn’t be able to separate these things.

I do consider moving to Los Angeles every now and again. Somehow, I just seem to believe that it’s far easier for an actor to find self-fulfilment there.

I’ve got a few goals activated at the same time.

Everybody has their own gift, one just has to find a way to develop it.

No tycoons, no incredibly rich mommy and daddy. I was surprised to discover that there were people who, at the beginning stage, were ready to work with me for free, like they say “for the interesting idea”. Our band ID is more of a creative project than it is a commercial gain one.
